PipGauge is an independent publisher of free forex and CFD trading calculators. Our tagline, “Measure every trade before you take it,” is also our standard: every tool is meant to give you an exact, checkable number before you risk money, not a vague estimate.
What we do
We publish calculators for the numbers traders actually look up — pip value, position size, required margin, profit and loss, spread cost and lot conversions — each on its own page with the formula, worked examples, and the edge cases that trip people up. Every calculation runs in your browser. We do not connect to your broker, we do not pull your account data, and nothing you type is uploaded or stored.
Our methodology
Before we build a tool we document its math in a clean-room specification: the formula, the inputs and outputs, the boundary cases, and any point where sources genuinely disagree (for example, the two competing definitions of a gold pip). We require each core formula to be confirmed by at least two independent references, and we test every engine against known worked examples so the number you see on the page is the number our tests check. Where conventions differ, we default to the mainstream one and make the alternative selectable rather than hiding the disagreement.
Editorial standards
- We never promise guaranteed returns, “risk-free” trades, or any win rate. Trading CFDs and forex carries a high risk of losing money.
- Methodology and educational pages carry an author, a reviewer, and a last-updated date.
- When we cite a broker figure such as a contract specification or loss rate, we record the date it was captured and re-check it on a schedule; stale figures are flagged or removed.
- We are transparent about how we make money. See How we make money.
Who this is for
PipGauge is built for retail forex and CFD traders outside the United States. Our tools are educational. They are not investment, trading, tax or financial advice, and they are not a solicitation to trade. Always confirm a result against your own broker before acting on it.
