NQ Replay: Nasdaq-100 futures practice for index traders

A tick-by-tick replay simulator made by the person who also builds PipGauge and Position Math. It replays CME NQ futures, not your broker's NAS100 CFD quotes, so this page explains what carries over and what doesn't.

20-second overview: past NQ sessions replayed at 10x and 60x, with simulated orders (no real money).

What NQ Replay does

  • Tick-by-tick replay of a past NQ session at 1x, 3x, 10x, 60x or 300x. Pause, step, or jump forward to the open or a news time. There's no rewind, as in a live session.
  • Real order workflow: market, limit, stop and bracket orders, right-click trading, draggable orders, and ATM templates with stop loss, up to three targets, breakeven and trailing stop.
  • Prop-style rules while you trade: daily loss limit, trailing max loss, profit target and consistency rule.
  • News lines for FOMC, CPI, NFP and PCE (built-in calendar currently runs to 30 September 2026; later days show no lines, which doesn't mean there were no events).
  • Review: per-trade MAE/MFE, multi-day statistics and CSV export. Up to 6 windows, English and Chinese UI.

NAS100 CFD vs NQ futures: what carries over

Both follow the Nasdaq-100, but they are different instruments. The futures price includes a basis to the cash index, and your CFD broker sets its own quotes, spreads, financing and trading hours. So exact price levels may differ from your platform; don't assume they match.

Value per pointNQ $20, MNQ $2 per contractSet by your broker, often $1 per point per lot; check your contract specs
Main trading costCommission per side (NQ Replay defaults to $2.25)Spread, plus overnight financing

What carries over: how the index moves around the open and scheduled news, sticking to a stop, sizing a trade from points to money, and staying inside a daily loss or trailing drawdown limit.
What doesn't: your broker's spread, financing and slippage, and exact price levels.

Sizing check: the same stop in different instruments

A 40-point stop risks $800 on 1 NQ, $80 on 1 MNQ, and $40 per lot on a NAS100 CFD priced at $1 per point per lot. That is the price move only, assuming a fill at the stop, before fees and slippage; real losses can be larger. Before you carry a stop distance from practice to your own account, convert it with the NAS100 point value calculator and the position size calculator. Pip value vs point value explains why index points and forex pips can't be swapped.

Requirements

  • No market data included. You need your own licensed NQ tick-by-tick trade data, one YYYYMMDD.parquet file per day in NQ Replay's column layout. We send the format notes with the download.
  • One trial code per computer, valid 7 days including the day it's issued, checked offline.

Honest limitations

  • Limit orders fill when price trades at your level; queue position isn't modeled, so real fills can be worse.
  • No margin checks and no broker-side rejections. Contract months are inferred from the data.
  • It doesn't connect to any broker and can't place real orders.

Full details, the trial steps and the complete FAQ are on the NQ Replay page at Position Math, our sister site.

NQ Replay is educational simulation software. It doesn't provide investment advice or trading signals. Futures and CFD trading involve a high risk of losing money, and simulated results have inherent limitations: they don't represent actual trading and can't fully account for liquidity, slippage or the emotional impact of real money. NQ Replay is not affiliated with CME Group, Nasdaq, any broker or any proprietary trading firm. NQ Replay and PipGauge are made by the same person; we don't earn affiliate commissions from this page. Frequently asked questions

Is this a signal service or a strategy?
No. It's a simulator. It doesn't tell you what to trade, and practice results don't predict live results.
Can I replay my broker's NAS100 CFD prices?
No. NQ Replay loads NQ futures trade data (one Parquet file per day). Your broker's CFD quotes, spreads and financing aren't part of it, so treat it as practice for reading the Nasdaq-100 and following your rules, not as a copy of your broker's feed.
Does it replay forex pairs or gold?
No. It's built for NQ and MNQ futures only. For forex sizing, use the position size calculator.
Why isn't market data included?
CME futures data is licensed and we can't redistribute it. You bring your own licensed NQ tick data, and it stays on your computer.
How much does the trial cost?
Nothing. The 7-day trial needs no card or payment details and doesn't turn into a subscription.
What happens to my data?
Your market data, trades and journals stay as files on your computer. The app doesn't check for updates, doesn't upload any data, and activation is completed offline. Trial requests are handled by Position Math under its privacy policy.
